I don’t feel I was really able to do what I was envisioning because my skills are not quite there yet and somewhat atrophied. Will keep practicing.

3 out of 6 illustrations I recently completed for a feminist activist group in Yemen.  (They unfortunately do not have a website I can link to.)  The illustrations loosely followed the Little Red Riding Hood narrative, with an evil guard devouring an innocent girl and a Yemeni woman coming to her rescue like the hunter.

ERIN RILEY’S TABOO TAPESTRY

Philadelphia based fiber artist Erin M. Riley is tackling taboo issues with her loom. She’s capturing the issues of today’s generation with very old school traditional form of storytelling. Her threads weave together depictions of female sexuality, drug use, birth control, car crashes, selfies, among others. The results of which are breathtaking in a very perverse way - most of the images will make you feel as if you’re sneaking a peek at private photos on someones phone, the element of being privy to what’s going on behind the scene but not being talked about - and at second glance you can’t help but stare in awe at the painstaking efforts that go into her work.

Erin’s work will be showing at Philadelphia based Paradigm Gallery + Studio from August 30th - October 12th, 2013. Hope you can make it out, these tapestries are sure to stir up a dialogue.

Afternoon in Dolores Park (minus the garbage that never quite seems to go away entirely…)  Just a fun piece for my own entertainment.

I was trying to describe recently this feeling I try to convey in a lot of my f/f art, this sense of innocence and wonderment in exploring romantic and erotic bonds, and the characters’ actions/state of undress implying that they live in a world where this is not a risky behavior that may result in unwanted attention from unwanted outside parties - that the behavior is for the entertainment of the women involved only. An attempt to show women being sexual for themselves and not just for a male audience, which just doesn’t happen that often. blah blah boobies~

BTW my website registration is not working right now; my host is working on it and should be back up shortly!

Me!  I will be here!  This SUNDAY!!  Come say hi. :)

I like the idea for this, and the pencil work came out nice and atmospheric, but somehow it didn’t quite pull together how I wanted. Hmm.
