The SF Bay Guardian did a quickie profile of a few local queer cartoonists, and there’s my lovely self-portrait in the middle-left!  Originally we wrote little bios and gave links but somehow that got lost. :(  This is also in their print issue, out today, so I feel rather famous to be seen (in cartoon form, anyway) by so many Bay Area folk!  Plus it’s cool to see my comic buddies Rick and Jon as well; their support and connection to the local community has been invaluable.

HAPPY PRIDE EVERYONE!  Now US citizens can get married just in time for Gay Christmas.

I have two comics ideas I will be starting on shortly after I finish coloring a little picture I just drew.  Not sure what the schedule on the upload of that will be, but if it’s longer than 5 pages, then I’ll put those up before the next 5, most likely.  Have to show something!

On a more personal note, my cat was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous tumor in his mouth 10 days ago and is dying.  It’s been really awful but at the same time I have a new flame and things are going great so my brain is a little confused about what’s what.  I’m curious how this will reflect in my work; I haven’t drawn while in love or in mourning in a looooong time.

Finished with my Anything That Loves submission!!  Will update everyone when it comes out. :D

Working on this, I listened to Kid Cudi’s new album over and over, and watched nearly 2 seasons of Ru Paul’s Drag Race (Team Jinkx!!!), Parks and Rec, a really depressing documentary about  Aileen Wuornos, and a bunch of soothing ASMR videos. I feel a little creepy turning those up for hours at a time.

Working working working on that Anything That Loves submission… Just a few days left until deadline!  I got a new desk recently and while I don’t know about the wisdom of putting a 50 pound scanner that high above my head, all the clutter is sliiiightly more organized now.

The tiny CSC zine fest was pretty chill.  I’m considering going back to small cons like ZineFest, but I feel a little stagnated with my current merchandise, which hasn’t changed for a long time.  I’m sure it’s obvious I’ve struggled with Acrobats for a long time, and in part that is the length of the story.  It’s much easier to feel accomplished banging out a 20 page comic, and getting it printed and selling it.  So I that’s been my focus lately.  I have a handful of short stories rattling around my art folder right now and at some point they will all come together for an anthology.  The only thing I’m worried about is that they’re rather disjointed thematically and a few of them are really goofy porn…  I like to think that’s symptomatic of my *~multi dimensional talents~*, tho.

OK, back to work!!

Anything That Loves is a comics anthology about non-binary sexuality, that is sexuality that is neither fully straight- or gay-identified.  I fall into that gray space myself, so I am writing a personal, 5 page story.  The project will be out late summertime and available online and at many-a-con thereafter.

Bookish Beasts

Hello.  I have been out of the loop yet again.  I can’t be reliable right now as far as posting things on the internet, although I am making things!  I am doing a tiny zinefest at the Center for Sex and Culture on April 14th.  It is called Bookish Beasts.  I will have my zines and prints!

Holla! Did you guys hear I will be participating in a Batman-on-Robin comics show in February? (which is also my birthday month!) Not only will I draw something for it, but I will do a live reading. Faaaantastic!!

Prism Comics!

Hello everyone!  I am scanning in and fixing up a buncha sketches to show everyone, but it’s slow going until Thursday.  In the meantime, I have to say I had a wonderful time at Wonder Con thanks in large part to the folks at Prism Comics.  Prism works to promote LGBTQ creators and works featuring LGBTQ characters.  And they are in fact now looking for more creators, specifically those of us who identify as:

lesbian
bisexual
otherwise queer female
trans
genderqueer/fluid
intersex
create comics about characters who identify as above
and anything that isn’t essentially gay-identified cis men!

Prism is concerned about becoming the kind of boys’ club mainstream comics is, so they asked me to recruit (ahem) for the cause.  If you fit any of these categories, please consider sending in your comics!  And please consider attending Bent Con in LA in December.  I will be tabling and am brainstorming panels on intersecting topics of comics and queerness.  If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know! :D

Hello Hello!

Hi Everyone!  So I’m hopping the Tumblr train…  Woo!  I think this will make it easier for me to stay caught up with friends and artists and easier for tumblr fans to follow me.  I will still keep tweeting, facebooking, deviantarting, and updating my Wordpress blog.  :)  And since this is my first post, it fits I link the first page of Acrobats in over a month!
